5 Reasons Why Forest of Souls Should Be Your Next Read [Blog Tour]

Hi book nerds! Welcome to my stop on the Forest of Souls Blog Tour hosted by The Royal Polar Bear! Thanks so much Raf for including me in this tour! Page Street Publishing also sent me a finished copy a while back, and I’m so thankful!

Forest of Souls is a real page-turner! A fast-paced, adventurous YA fantasy novel you shouldn’t miss! But those are not the only reasons why you should read this book. I’m listing down 5 reasons why Forest of Souls should be your next read!

It has a fantastic world-building

When I saw that this book featured a glossary, I just knew the world-building will be fantastic! There are three kingdoms, and different types of shamans, dragons and wyverns, old magic that runs deep, a dangerous forest that seems to be alive, and a magic system that is as interesting as it is mystifying.

It features a strong female main character

Sirscha is an orphan, and she uses this to motivate herself to become something more—specifically the queen’s next royal spy. She goes through a lot in the course of this book, but she stayed resilient and determined (especially if it involves Saengo!).

The fight scenes are awesome

The fight scenes, without a doubt, are exhilarating and heart-stopping. Sirscha is a fierce soldier/spy and she will not back down from a fight. You’ll see her battling assassins, royal guards, other shamans, and more.

The plot twists will shock you

The author knows how to add something new to the story to shock you, or to twist the events into something that will keep you turning the pages. The plot twists will glue your eyes to the book, I swear.

It’s the start of a trilogy

Forest of Souls is only the first book of a trilogy. This means there will be more adventures to take, more secrets to unveil, more plot to unravel! I’m personally excited for the sequel, and if you read this book, I know you will, too!

Sirscha Ashwyn comes from nothing, but she’s intent on becoming something. After years of training to become the queen’s next royal spy, her plans are derailed when shamans attack and kill her best friend Saengo.

And then Sirscha, somehow, restores Saengo to life.

Unveiled as the first soulguide in living memory, Sirscha is summoned to the domain of the Spider King. For centuries, he has used his influence over the Dead Wood—an ancient forest possessed by souls—to enforce peace between the kingdoms. Now, with the trees growing wild and untamed, only a soulguide can restrain them. As war looms, Sirscha must master her newly awakened abilities before the trees shatter the brittle peace, or worse, claim Saengo, the friend she would die for.

About the Author

Lori is an avid writer, reader, artist, and lover of unicorns. She should probably spend less time on the internet (but she won’t). She considers herself a unicorn aficianado, is fond of talking in capslock, and loves to write about magic, manipulation, and family.
