Science Fiction/Fantasy Sequels I’m Excited For This 2021

2021 is looking fantastic for my book nerd self! There are a lot of queer novels coming this year (a win for my queer heart honestly!). There is also quite the number of new science fiction fantasy debuts/releases that are already a standout (I want them all!). And of course, there are also the sequels of previous science fiction and fantasy books that caught my heart the past year/s! (*cue screaming*)

If you’re waiting for these books as well, please feel free to scream with me in the comments! Here are the science fiction/fantasy sequels I’m excited for this 2021!

Raybearer is one of my top reads last year, being fortunate enough to read an advanced copy. So is it really a surprise that I am way beyond excited for the sequel?! The author recently just revealed the cover and title as well, and as you can see, it is gorgeous.

I enjoyed reading Crownchasers so much last year. With a thrilling adventure, vibes like Guardians of the Galaxy, and a queer cast, I adored it! Now, the sequel Thronebreakers is here and I’m all up for it!

The ending of A Song of Wraiths and Ruin left me in such a complicated state. I’m both anxious and excited for the sequel! The two main characters were very compelling and I am so ready to continue the story.

The Bone Shard Daughter was both puzzling and satisfying, and it definitely left a mark on me last year! Now, we return to the story with The Bone Shard Emperor and I can only imagine what the author has in store for us!

Blazewrath Games was simply fantastic! With dragons, queer characters, lots of action, and great character arc, I fell in love with this immediately. Unfortunately, no official title or cover has been released yet for the sequel (don’t be deceived by Bloodbath Ring on Goodreads lol). Still, I am so hyped up for this one!

It’s been two years since I’ve read King of Scars and I can still remember the rollercoaster of emotions it left me. Now, the sequel Rule of Wolves is here. I’m not going to lie though, I almost forgot this is releasing this year! But with its release nearing, as well Shadow and Bone‘s Netflix debut, I can feel the hype building up!

A River of Royal Blood is an underrated gem for me. That book was so good and it deserves a lot more love, if you ask me. The sequel A Queen of Gilded Horns is coming right next month and I cannot wait to see where this story ends!

The first book, Bone Crier’s Moon, was adventurous and addictive, with an enthralling world-building and a gripping plot. I absolutely enjoyed reading it! Now, Bone Crier’s Dawn is here and I am both excited and nervous for it!

Forest of Souls was a page-turner for me! (And that plot twist in the end is still stuck in my mind.) I am so ready to dive into the sequel! And thanks to Page Street, I can do just that! They sent me an ARC of Broken Web just a few weeks ago and I am just so ecstatic!

Chronicles of the Bitch Queen #3

Orbit Books

Okay, I can still call this a sequel, right? It’s the finale of Chronicles of the Bitch Queen and I am so, so thrilled! I read the first two books back to back last year and it was an incredible journey. I can’t wait for the conclusion of Queen Talyien’s story. (And this will probably destroy me, but I’ve accepted my fate.)

Bonus: Alex Stern #2

Okay, so at first, it said on Goodreads that Alex Stern #2 (aka the sequel of Ninth House) is releasing this year, but now I am not so sure. We might have to wait a little longer, we might not. One thing is for certain, though—the wait for this one is AGONIZING. If you know, you know. *sniffs*
